already much of anything for some time ... arrgh! 'll See that I finally once again for some updates and emails (Have you not forgotten!) create!
First of all I wanted to hold fast to this:
went this morning following message through the media:
"A new form of living on the highway Beijing-Zhangjiakou has established itself over a distance of hundred kilometers, a permanent traffic jam?. ... For ten days now moved here an impenetrable steel wall with a barely perceptible rate of one kilometer per day. advised
The sudden rise of the private and the goods traffic driving through China regularly to Buddhist patience exercises. The monumental permanent storage in Northwest now shows a new quality: it is to be resolved until the middle of next month. One can therefore describe as well as a new form of living, as migratory dune-like city. Or as exhaust emissions monument to an exploding economic power.
The solution of the bumper-bumper-problem is in the air. First, in Beijing, the Chinese government to bypass the slow-moving traffic with a kind of "flying bus". The two-car wide track vehicle is - held up by stilts, which move on rails at the edge of the road - hovering above it all, driven by the power of the sun. The view is probably beautiful. "

me reminiscent of the Dr.Who Episode "Gridlock" (2007), which was in German apparently not been broadcast.
In the "New New York" to the distant future, get the Doctor and his companion Martha there into a monster traffic jam, which has seized on the ring road around the city. The drivers who got into it live, some for more than a generation in their cars in traffic jams, and who can not avoid it, to drive on the highway veranschiedet, already as a precaution even from his loved ones, if not come along.
Here is an excerpt from the summary on the English Wikipedia:
"The Doctor takes Martha with his TARDIS to the year five billion and fifty three in New New York on the planet New Earth, a place to which he had previously taken Rose Tyler. They end up in an alleyway where street traders are selling mood patches to help people deal with "The Motorway", but as they are investigating this, Martha is kidnapped at gun point and drugged by a young couple, Milo and Cheen. Once in their vehicle, they explain that Cheen is pregnant and that they needed three adult passengers to qualify for the high-occupancy vehicle lane, the "Fast Lane", and that they will drop Martha off when they reach their destination 10 miles (16 km) away in six years. ...
The Doctor chases after Martha's kidnappers and arrives at the (entirely enclosed) Motorway to find thousands of hover vans stuck in a tri-dimensional gridlock. The fumes in the air begin to affect the Doctor, but he is invited into the hover van of Thomas Kincade Brannigan, a cat man, and Valerie, his human wife, who have a litter of kittens. The Doctor learns that the couple, along with all the other traffic on the road, has only travelled a short distance in several years, their vans having become their homes.
[It turns out] that a "Bliss" drug created by the pharmacists mutated into a virus that became airborne and wiped out the entire surface population in a matter of minutes, and only those in the Motorway were spared due to actions to seal it off, keeping the travellers in constant traffic to avoid telling them the real problem..."
Die phantastischen Elemente (wie die schwebenden Fahrzeuge, die let the jam grow even in the height) aside, it is a bit frightening that the future that we, the authors show as "New New York", obviously much closer than a few billion years.
If you hope for now at least, could not turn out that other elements of the series as pure fantasy ... such a Time Lord who is watching this planet could use the world sometimes that is damn good ... ;-)
